The performance horse industry covers a wide range of job opportunities. You could work as a senior horse groom, stable manager or stud hand working in stables, studs and places of competition where you will be able to educate, handle and care for the health and well-being of performance horses.
You will also be able to prepare horses for competition and exercise horses in a stable and in competitions such as eventing, show jumping and polo.
Another option is life as a Jackaroo or Jillaroo. Jackaroos and Jillaroos are an essential part of the operations of farms and stations. Jackaroos and Jillaroos ride horses and quad bikes, drive tractors and understand basic maintenance of machinery, fencing and irrigation as well as caring for and managing stock on the property.

handle, feed, exercise, groom and care for horses - work with a wide variety of horses of different sizes, features and temperaments - work within workplace procedures and codes of practice within designated timeframes - communicate effectively with supervisors and team members alike - be capable of administering first aid to humans and to horses.
The range of careers in and around horses is wide and varied. Horse breeders work closely with veterinary surgeons and stud managers with in foal mares, mares and foals and stallions.
Following the breeding season breeders work with weanlings and yearlings, preparing them for competition or sales.
