This qualification is for people who want to work as a racehorse trainer for a thoroughbred racing stable. You will be independently employed and responsible for organising your own work as well as leading others and planning for and carrying out tasks of complex and non-routine functions.

Subjects

Core: Comply with the rules of racing and related protocols; Trial and race horses; Maintain and monitor OHS procedures and environmental work practices; Participate in protests, inquiries and appeals; Manage horse health and welfare; Manage a small team; Operate horse racing training business. Electives: Participate in media interviews for racing; Relate animal welfare to track and environmental conditions; Implement stable operations; Communicate electronically; Supervise handling of horses; plus more.

Year 10 or equivalent or relevant work experience
