People who are considering a career in Racing will get a golden opportunity with the Australian Racing and Equine Academy (AREA) announcing a series of Skills Set 'Taster Courses' will soon be launched.

An “Introduction” Skills Set, covering basic stable duties and how to handle horses, will be run at the Academy’s Richmond College over a two-week period.

Mature aged students getting qualified

Veteran racetrack maintenance workers Bob Purvis and Garry Frazer have proven that it’s never too late to learn new tricks.

The pair, who head the track maintenance operations of the Muswellbrook Race Club, have recently commenced traineeships with the Australian Racing and Equine Academy (AREA) that will eventually see them graduating with a Certificate III Track Maintenance National Qualification at the end of their studies.
